Help. i hoping to do approx 200 miles on A10 tomorrow, just back from a night time blast to see if various bodgeries have worked to find i've lost the primary inspection cover. Anything obvious to temp replace it with? Thinking Duck tape?  *countdown* *bright idea*

Cork?

Grind a tapered dowel out of wood using your bench grinder. If you get it right you should be able to screw it in.

Of course, if you have access to a lathe, you could use that.

No Lathe or grinder, just a vice. This is loose on the bench but very useful. Was thinking there must be something similar in size? Will hopefully have time in morning to play with plastic spray can lids? Hoping some of the antipodean sorts had had to find something as a get me home.

 Maybe a small rubber wash basin plug ? They usually even have a loopdy thing to hook a string to so you don't lose it again
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

Maybe too late to chime in, but might be a thought to temprorarily shift the oil tank cap to the primary and use the rubber plug on the oil tank where gravity may help keep it in place.

Swap with oil tank cap, use rubber band and a piece of plastic as a temp cap for the former.

Having lost a couple over the years myself, I find putting an O ring on them keeps them secured.

I also put an O ring on, it also prevents oil leaks.

I have the correct cover plug here. It's a bit gnarled around the edge but will still work. Let me have your postal address if you want it, (FOC naturally)
