Clutch cable gearbox adjuster keeps undoing

Hi Folks

Last year my dad passed his A10 on to me and I am trying to get it sorted. As with most A10
Owners finding neutral is quite challenging at times but I have noticed that the adjuster at the gearbox end keeps coming undone. This doesn’t seem surprising to me since, with the clutch lever out, the adjusters are not tight against anything and there appears to be no locking nut. Am I missing a part or something? When I adjust it, I can mostly get neutral.

The gearbox cover you have is a 1960 on item which had the adjuster at the handlebar lever and ferrule at the gearbox. The hole at the gearbox end is plain, unthreaded. to take the ferrule.

The earlier boxes had a slightliy different arrangement with a threaded boss.

So you have the wrong cable. Can you source another nut to screw up on the outside to lock it up?

Wow thanks guys .. I was thinking .... I might try and source and fit a locknut!  .

 Scrounge a locknut from an old clutch cable...... meanwhile use Loctite or simply superglue (cyanoacrylate adhesive, same as Loctite) on the cleaned threads to retain your existing nut as a semi-permanent temporary fix.
