Carby fitting?

I am looking at how the carby fits on the a10 (brand new standard Amal 276). Just mocking everything up. Is there a procedure to fit it?  So far nothing I do will get the carby to fit. There just isn't enough room between the head and the air filter rubber. I tried putting the rubber on the carby first still no go. Would I have to loosen the airbox maybe or bolt the carby to the head before I put the head on. The carby had a bell mouth screwed onto it. I have taken that off but the end of the airbox rubber seems too big for the carby. *conf*

Hi Mike, on the A10 I did I did not use the rubber  I just raped a peace of 1" velcor around the air intake on the carby and the air cleaner outlet, worked good for me.

  Miker. From earlier posts I reckon this is the 1951 Plunger bike.  Space is tight to the top frame tube, a later 376 Monobloc carb will just about fit, but without any filter. My bike came like this.

 You've got the correct earlier 276 Type (remote float chamber) and if using an original airbox, get the correct rubber connector. A7 type has smaller carb connection, height of the outlet is lower as well to compensate for lower block height. With the right bits it all fits in with a squeeze. Folks use cables with in line adjusters to avoid sharp bends under the frame tube, rather than the usual adjusters above the carb.
 A plain screw on spigot in place of the bellmouth jogs my memory, to mate with the rubber connector.

Yeh Swarfcut still on with the 1951 plunger a10. Been pretty hot the last few months so haven't been in the shed. But slowly slowly it will get there. Is there a part number for the plain screw on spigot . I figured I may bolt the carby to the head and then install it all in one go.

That might be a good idea. Fitting the, (rather stiff in my case) hose on both ends, including the springy metal 'O' ring thing at the carb end, with the head attached, is a fiddle. The modern connector I bought is not rubber;  it may be some sort of plastic; possibly polyurethane.
