Magneto removal - Help!

Hello all.
I'm pretty excited as I've just purchased a BTH electronic Mag to replace my dud mag.

However I have discovered that the lower mounting bolt (the long shaft type) has been replaced at some time with a normal bolt which I cannot get at!

I took the off the gearbox outer and inner cover to attempt to gain some access but no luck.

If any other member has had this issue I would be grateful for any advice.

I don't have the bike here to have a look, but one should be able to make up a one-off tool starting with socket and some extension bar, possibly needing to grind down different areas\length to make it all enter and fit, f.ex. making the outer dia of socket as thin as possible.

A 1/4 drive socket on a 6" extension might get it. Failing all attempts  the inner primary removed will at least give you sight of it.

My reason for asking is that on my Plunger machine, that has the gearbox bolted to the engine, the stud for that long bolt under the mag was turning. There was no room to get the stud plus bolt loose so when I had the engine out and gearbox removed I was able to get the old bolt out. I've Locktighted the stud in now and I've used a new long bolt, with copper grease on the threads.

At last after fabricating three strange tools and many wakeful nights I carefully used a dremel to cut the nut and a screwdriver to loosen albeit the stud not the nut.  *woo*
There is always a solution. It just takes me a lot longer than most.
Having removed the gearbox outer and inner (three times) also revealed issues that may have become a problem down the track so that's also good.
Now just waiting on my new mag.  *wink2*
