Erlin, the BBMF actually have a spitfire that saw combat during the Battle of Britain in 1940 , not surprisingly its the oldest example still airworthy although the one Guy Martin was involved with and is now flying saw cambat during the Dunkirk evacuation .
Tlmark i totally agree there is something about the Spitfire
,beautiful thing ,I'd love to visit Biggin on the bump and as to flying in one I nearly got there 10 yrs ago, Son was flush and put me down for a flight in the " Grace" spitfire just before I was top of the list it developed a cracked crank and that was that by the time it was operating again the bugger was skint !
