I fitted a Bob Newby clutch and belt drive on my RGS last year and have had no problems. They are not cheap but in my opinion worth every penny.

G'day Bess.
Got one made by a fella down here (Melbourne) that uses a Notrun Commical diaphragm clutch on my A10 Cafe. Gearing is a little taller than an RGS and motor pulls it well. About 10 years on the original belt. Run dry but it's an open primary. Luv it to death.

Hi musky, thats the type im getting for my tribsa. Can you tell me is there any modification reqd to clutch mechanism at gearbox side.

I also have to run it open as the belt is a bit wider so i may use your design as a pattern!

Mr Arthur ( retired fireman on here occasionally ) fitted on to his A 10 about 10 years ago.
The only real problem with it had been the fact all the other noises that the primary hid became apparent.
That bike has done 8 BSA National Rallies ridden all the way from Coffs Harbour to the various locations , including Claire , Norriopta , Torquay , Goulburn & Cowra .
Lots of these were better than 2000 mile round trips carrying a big load of camping gear.
So yes they work really well.
Weather they are worth the price is a matter of personal choice.

The hub is machined to fit straight on the tapered mainshaft. Made by a fellow down in Melbourne (can't think of his name Scarry or similar) sort of like the Quietpowerdrive.

I’m interested in purchasing a Bob Newby clutch! But debating on a wet or a dry clutch.

Wet = Leaks and Dry = Overheat (as I want the original look with primary cover on).

Are they expensive? Yes, but will eventually pull the plug on getting one and have just purchased a SRM oil pump.

Steve has a dry belt on his and overheating has not been a problem.
We get roughly California weather down here, perhaps a little hotter and he does long runs generally about 3 to 4 hours at a time and 6 to 8 road hours a day.

I have Newby Belts on all of my bikes 4 or 5 for Touring with the original cover on. No problems with the heat.
First belts for many years, plug and ride, forget all the trouble with oil, slipp and drag.
