AA7 crankcases WTB
« on: 09.10. 2018 13:41 »
Hi All.  While you are all out searching for a pair of 1951 ZA10 cases for Steverat, I thought it would be worth throwing my wanted item into the list.  I'm in need of a matched pair of 1950 plunger 'AA7' cases,  these will need to have a nice low engine number to qualify for 1950.  Ideally below 1000.  Please consider this whilst you are searching. Many Thanks in anticipation.  Pete

I think that AA7 will be from 1951 on.
1950 A7s were ZA7.

Hi Trevinoz.

The first AA7 engine models were built after the annual shutdown of 1950, as the 1951 model year bikes, they made over 2000 before the end of the year. There must be some crankcases kicking about somewhere.

Hi Peter,
I was probably being a little pedantic.
Good luck in your search for AA7 cases.
I have been looking for a set at the right price for a while for a rigid project which may never be finished.
I have a rough unmatched set but I won't use them if I get a better matched set.

Hi Peter,
We have a set here, they appear as though they have had some repairs, and need some attention, but are correct matching number cases

Hi Brett.
Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately (or fortunately if that's what you nedd) these are 'Star-Twin' cases, production of these didn't start until 1951 which I find a little strange! You would have thought that the AA7S would have run along side the standard AA7.  Cheers, Pete

Pete the pair which I  have taken off the bike are AA7 68xx. They have damage to the rear of the primary chaincase inner where the clutch has run loose, also at the front of the chaincase a piece has been removed to mend another crankcase with. Let me know if interested.

Hi Steve.
Thanks for the offer but I do need to find a 1950 pair of cases ie a nice low number. I'm not in a huge rush as its a long term project, so will wait for the right pair to turn up. Thanks again. Pete

Noticed a pair today on your favourite  auction site. Look a bit scruffy and must be made of some sort of precious metal if the starting price was anything to go by.
