Monobloc Mounting

Gasket between manifold and drip tray, but is the 'O' ring on the carb enough to seal between drip tray and carb without anything else?
My bike is a 1958 A7SS

Hi Roy,
I always fit a solid insulating spacer (tufnol) next to the head then a gasket, the skislope and the carb
If the carb body is in good condition the O ring should be enough
A smear of sealer either side of the insulating spacer is enough
Any "soft" materials in the assembly makes carb body distortion more likely
I hate those thick soft so called insulating gaskets, they cause all kinds of bother *razz*

I've read many times about the carb flange being overtightened and bowing the surface so be gentle.

If its a new one made by the Salisbury Amal company then the flange is a lot thicker than the old monobloc ones plus the O ring is considerably smaller in thickness to the old type. But I still use a gasket either side of the drip tray. An old model I purchased at a auto jumble was oval on the bore because of over tightening of the flange nuts.
