List of fasteners
« on: 31.12. 2015 01:20 »
A while ago there was a link to a list of fasteners for our bikes on this forum, but I can't find it now. Specifically for a '59 Super Rocket, with stud and bolt lengths would save a heap of work if it was still available. Thanks in advance Tomcat

Do you mean ths one that was posted with the warning that it is an orphaned page and can dissaper without trace at any time so you should down load it ande keep a copy on your hard drive if not a printed one in your workshop ?

I already had it saved in a different format, but^^ this is easier^^- if I make it big enough....

Even better! Question for the learned though. The sleeve nut that goes under the generator is completely missing on my machine (in fact most of the frame bolts had been repacked with bits of threaded rod and coach bolts) so does the head protrude from the hole or is flush?

If you mean the hole under on the r.h.s, which is a good size for a socket and I've used a double ended stud with standard (but ss) nuts, and habe used the sleeve nut in the top mount behind the genny, where it's hard to get a spanner in... works for me  *conf2*

As I have to make them all from scratch I can make one for both spots. Be keen to know the length still though. :)

This is the best I can do for now....

I've realised I'm still using the temporary socket cap screws under the genny (second pic), so maybe those spares will sort that out....still just a double ended stud
Bearing in mind this is from Lightning Spares-  copies of the original

Brilliant thanks! Scored 300mm of .600 thou hex today so will be able to make nice replacement nuts form the 3/8" studs. Too hard to obtain to make bolts out of it though. The only source of whitworth hex seems to be in stainless and I dont want stainless. I'm surprised that someone cant make a dollar out of supplying limited amounts of it to restorers though.
