If a parts book printed pre 1953 could be found perhaps the offending bit could be named.
Probably won't help getting one, though!

  Trev.

67-4121(2) Pillion footest adaptor (solo) , (2) means 2 fitted, Spring Frame A10, page 94/95 catalogue of genuine BSA spares introduced in 1950 (used in conjunction with 1949 spares list). Also listed in the 1949 book but specified for 'nearside only' but requires 2 of so must have been fitted in the offside as well. A bit confusing but that's what it says. The confusion is probably due to sidecar issues when there would only be one fitted.

Hi All. I thought it had all gone quiet on this topic.   Since my last posting, I have carried further research and in my opinion all 'ZA7S' plunger frames up to 1952 had the screw in adapters, but the 1953 model year (BA7S series) had the cheaper to manufacture plain 'top hat' type of adapter with a heavy washer on the inside to retain it in the frame, (this washer is not shown in the parts listings at all).   I also believe that BSA carried over the part number to the later type as it features on both the early and later lists.     I am currently looking into having a small batch of these manufactured exactly as original but in stainless steel. I will update  progress shortly.   Regards, Peter

Peter
Please Put me down for a pair. while i am on I dont supose any of the three plunger frames have the pins for the centre stand do they. or does any reproduce these in stainless. I am in the very early stages of putting together spare parts to build a 1950 A10 goldenflash and I am looking for alsorts of parts.

Hello all followers of this thread. I've received a quote to manufacture a batch of 20 of these threaded adapters as used on A & B series plungers up to the 1953 model year. These will be exact copies of an original but in stainless. The quote is £15 each. If enough people are interested to increase the order, the price would be reduced. Now we have got an idea of the price could people confirm their interest. Many Thanks. Peter

So did any bushes get made?
On mine the nearside mounting has been welded in, probably someone with a side car in the distant past, so before I spend hours with the die-cutter grinding the welds away (and doubtless struggling with the RHS one too) I would like to know if they're available now, although I don't suppose they'd be hard to replicate.
Also is that a large rubber mounting  under the bush itself... to damp the pillion peg vibes, maybe?
