The front brake is interesting; he used two 8" half width drums back to back rather than put a modern disk on the front wheel. Might be a useful tip for someone here.

Two half-width drums welded together has been done many times.

I've seen and heard that one a few times. Remarkable engineering.
I think RR did a front drum like that on his racing outfit.

Doug is a BSA club member in Victoria, he's a nice bloke who builds complete machines that others only dream of. He has made 3 V twins and a Veteran based on a Hockley engine. He did a lap of NZ on the Empire Twin at the Interational?? Rally a few years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGW8TJBzf4s
