Re-introduction Hi!
« on: 09.03. 2018 19:19 »
Hi,

I joined this forum years ago when I started this project, but ultimately life got in the way (and maybe a few japanese bikes too). Me and some friends are going to Ireland in July, and much like our trip to Belgium last year on 70s Hondas...this year’s rule is British only! so to cut a long story short, I am back on track for building an A7. (Although how much A7 is dependent on what’s in the boxes I have  *eek*)

So around 5 years ago I had the frame blasted and painted, and that’s about as far as I got. However, upon recent inspection, the frame had tabs and brackets missing, along with patched up down tubes and a slight kink in the rear between the rails. So out came the bottles and a day of fabrication to replace the missing parts and get the thing straight. As seen in the pictures. Sad to spoil the paint but it needed it.

I put back the tank steady, the tank bolt saddle, the matchbox bracket, and replaced a patch with a new piece of tube. I know its a B frame, but what can I do, I can’t afford to by an A just for the kink the lower rail, and its part of its history.

I also dug out the hubs, blasted them and painted them up then sent them away for lacing up.

There’s a few pictures for something to look at, and the last is of this bikes sister ship the owner ran alongside this one in the mid 1970s I believe.

So yes, Hello!  I hope to keep a steady progress on this, but we shall see.

Cheers

Welcome back, once you got the hang of pics we would like to see lots more! Is that a goldie hub you have? I assume the frame isn’t goldie!

Not that it is a reliable indicator in its self, but it does have brackets for rear set foot rests on it, so who knows, it just might be.

Hi, yes it’s a Gold star hub. I would like to say the frame is a gold star item; however it is a standard b series with the rear set lugs added.

Got the wheels back yesterday, had them done in stainless with wm2 19s front and rear and they look fantastic! Will start adding bearings and such to them tomorrow.

Been looking through boxes for parts today so I was able to complete the yoke assembaly and prepare for paint.

Hopefully there will be a photo attached in the correct way this time!

Just a few photos to show a little progress, been painting mainly. Need parts to start reassembly, rang c+d autos this week but they're certainly taking their time.
