Hi all,

As you may recall from my introductory post (https://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=11496.0), I had been gifted the A7 by granddad as he was getting too old to ride it - sadly he passed away a fortnight ago. Whilst it's sad news, he'd led a good long life and the grim reaper catches up with us all eventually - he'd have been content, and is no doubt tinkering and fettling in the big workshop in the sky. This isn't a post looking for condolences.

Having had the enviable task of helping to sort through his "accumulated paraphernalia" (aka "junk"), there were a few photos I thought you might enjoy, so have (hopefully) shared them below.

Photo 1 - Date unsure (late 40s), is this his original a7?
Photo 2 - Newspaper cutting of Grandads adventures, circa 1948 (I thought the bike was wrecked but article states otherwise - bike involved was his first A7)
Photo 3 - 1980s, this is the A7 I'm now custodian of.
Photo 4 - Same bike again at the Stradsett vintage machinery show, early 00s
Photo 5 - as above, possibly different year but same show
Photo 6 - Me and Charlie (grandson and great grandson) when the bike first arrived here.

'59 A7 - No idea what I'm doing with it.

Great photos!  *smile*

It's very good to see someone who is not in their golden years being interested an 'A' series BSA. I wonder if a side effect of Mahindra making the BSA name famous again, (if they do manage that) will be a rise in interest from younger generations in the classic machines.   *whistle*

Charlie is going to have to grow a bit before he can ride that bike.  *wink2*

Great bike! I guess you aren't too far from me in West Norfolk?
Cheers.

G'day LL.
Great to see the bike still alive and being enjoyed by family descendants. Keep charlie interested to carry it on.
Cheers

Greybeard - my biker mates love old bikes, however most aren't in a position to keep one, obviously I'm lucky that I'd already been gifted one. I do think there's a big appreciation for vintage gear, but we're mostly to skint to enjoy it. Hope that gives you some faith in the youth of today, although the majority of lads my age are morons!
People [rightly] try to put us down...

Ray - Yes I'm Kings Lynn based, are you a loocal?

Muskrat - I'm looking forward to explaining to Charlie how a magneto and carburettor work - just need to figure it out myself first!!
'59 A7 - No idea what I'm doing with it.
