« on: 16.05. 2009 20:31 »
hi all,
just wondering do anyone know if i have the right carb on my replica road rocket its a monobloc and has 389/203 stamped on it what do these numbers mean! the bike was originally a 1960 golden flash any info would be great also what would be the best setting for the needle 1 2 3 or 4 notches as it seem to be running slightly rich as the plugs are a bit black regards alf.

Alf, your carby was originally fitted to a Triumph Bonneville.
It is 1 1/8" so size is OK. Just fit jets and slide as for a Rocket.

Alf
A 389 is the right one for a Rocket, the other number denotes the internals, jets, needle, throttle slide etc which is inside the carb.

You could check the internals are correct for a rocket at the Amal website. If you have trouble finding the correct settings for it, I will look them out for you.
