My new Golden Flash
« on: 15.02. 2018 16:02 »
Hi everyone,

Just joined and proud owner of a 1952 Golden Flash plunger.

I have a few jobs to do, but nothing urgent, any advice appreciated.
- correct colour scheme - currently all black
- slipping clutch - assuming oil contamination
- correct headlight assembly for this bike
- rubbish front brake!

I have attached a photo.

Look forward to contributing to the forum.

Welcome aboard    *welcome*and a great model to have as well, we all are a nosey lot so more info in the relavant board about yourself ,where you are based , there are some much more knowledgeable  people here than me  always willing to help but heres my tupennce worth,

whats wrong with black ?
The clutch on the plungers is in a sealed dome within the chaincase and is probably BSA's best offering however it runs dry so if oil is in there could be contaminated as you think ,best pull it down for a look.
your bike should I think have the "cowpat" type cowl if you search for it you'll see versions on here.
That brake ,i  think is the 8" single sided and set up right is pretty damn good , post us some pictures ,may be rusted from standing ,cable stretched, actuating arm in the wrong position ,should be making firm contact just before 90d or linnings worn etc but defo can be sorted, keep at it ,you'll love her, cheers Bob

Hi and welcome to probably the best forum around.
My Plungy is '55 so has the cowpat style headlamp cowl.

I have the same 8" half width front brake as yours. I put new lined shoes in, (from Draganfly). I'm very happy with the brake, (for my riding style). Last summer I allowed another BSAOC member to take my bike for a test ride. He had a later A7 with full width brakes. When he returned he said he was impressed with my bikes brakes!

Nice looking bike. Wondering if the criticism of the brake is largely due to the Daytona(?) sitting next to the BSA?
