Brilliant thread..haven't had time to read the whole thing...so this maybe a huge bark up a wrong tree.

Incorrect breather cork. These things have been known to cause all sorts of excess oil probs.

Very entertaining as usual.Well done everyone.
My Matchless monoblock has similar problems and I've been given me some great leads.
Thinking of swapping to Iridium plugs as mentioned elsewhere.
Can these really be cleaned instead of being chucked out after a 10 minute test?

Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy
