Lust in the 50's....
« on: 31.12. 2015 04:44 »
Found a pic of my father, hamming it up on a Vincent out the front of Ken Marshall Motorcycles in Hannan St Kalgoorlie; early fifties.

His ride was more mundane; K363; a  black '51 Golden Flash that he bought new from Jack Johnston Motorcycles - directly across the street!

I ride it regularly.

You got it Brian,

But not the fags!

I share the name Richard with my grandfather and father. However the family would always shorten this to Dick, hence the description on the pics.

When I was growing up and my grandfather was still alive, the family prevented confusion by calling my grandfather "Old Dick". My father was always known as "Dickie".

Unfortunately, they used to call me "Little Dick".

Thankfully time has resolved that issue.

Great pictures of your father, even better that the Flash is still in good hands.  *smile* *smile*

Nice. Sadly, although my father had a full license he only had autocycles (98cc) and mopeds. He couldn't see the point of any thing larger when you could drive a car. He never really understood it when I moved on to larger stuff.

I do remember helping him dismember the autocycles to bung into the hedges on the borders of our garden.

Somehow, the Vincent doesn't seem the kind bike to beat around a sheep station. Maybe that's just an impression based on today's value.

I, too, evolved in name from Dickie, to Dick, to Richard.

Richard, Kalgoorlie is renown for its houses of ill repute and bordellos.
The locals get around with their pockets stuffed with gold nuggets.
A Vincent wouldn't be out of place here at all.
I'm only surprised 'little dick' doesn't own six of them.
Cheers & Happy New Year

Add me to the list of people who have always "lusted" after a Vincent, unfortunately there are 70 or 80 thousand reasons why I cant have one !

I cant really complain though, after all I do ride a 1000cc pushrod air cooled V twin and absolutely love it, its 850cc stablemate isnt bad either.
