A65 balancing act.
« on: 12.10. 2014 04:32 »
G'day all.
Just got the bottom end back together, remember my blow up 11 months ago where the little end didn't want to play no more. After finding and rectifying a dozen bodges by the PO, I thought I'd better check the balance of the crank. My new pistons are 44g heavier so worked out my weights to balance to 65%. 5 1/2 oz needed to be removed *pull hair out*. That equals 9 x 1/2" holes 5/8" deep ant 2 x 3/8" holes 3/4 deep in the webs *eek*.
So with the lighter flywheel & balanced, roller conversion main bearing she should hunt this time.
See pic of my method to spin her over without a top end to get the oil through her.
Got a set of barrels from the US, $135 + $160 post!!!. Three broken fins in transit, no insurance  *rant*.
Just need to find valves, valve springs and pushrods and she'll be ready to travel to the next big bang theory.
Cheers
