Hi Derek,
Check the circlip holding the bearing in place behind the kickstart ratchet
It looks "a bit odd" in your photo ??? it should fit solidly into a groove in the casing
It could be a reason why you had the "jumping" problem?????
How loose was the mainshaft nut???

the pressure plate on the clutch is now further out.
once read some place where someone said saw the pushrod in half and put a ball bearing between the tow half's?

Hi Derek,
The nut should be tight and zero end float

Can't recall if I ever did it, but I also was told that a1/4" roller works better 'cos it's less likely to splay the ends, but either way you need to harden the ends of the two halves.
Started building in about 1977/8 a on average '52 A10 -built from bits 'n pieces never resto intended -maybe 'personalised'
Have a '74 850T Moto Guzzi since '92-best thing I ever bought doesn't need a kickstart 'cos it bump starts sooooooooo(mostly) easy

put in two balls to take up the play also harden the ends of the cut rod, have put it all back together now and took t it for a blast round town everything seems to work ok .
will need to take it on a long run to heat it up to see if i'v cured the clutch fault,
will let you know how i get on (weather permitting ).
