An Interesting Motorcycle Auction
« on: 07.01. 2009 15:58 »
For the next three days, Mid America Auctions will conduct the Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction, claimed to be "The World's Largest Motorcycle Auciton" and is mostly vintage and antique bikes. I have had some enjoyment from listening to the online bidding at:

http://www.proxibid.com/asp/AuctionsByCompany.asp?ahid=460\

If I recall correctly, just before or just after the start of the auction, you can choose "Listen Only" at the website. Of, course, if you are inclined, you could register as a bidder and bid online, as well.

"Tonight's" auction starts at 0300 Hrs UK. Saturday and Sunday start at 1700 Hrs UK (based on 8 hours between US Pacific time and UK).

I hope some find this interesting.

Re: An Interesting Motorcycle Auction - WRONG DAYS AGAIN!
OK, if "tail-between-the-legs," or, "living in disgrace" can even describe my embarrassment, I seem to have gotten the auction times wrong twice. The day transition of US to UK scrambled my brain at the wrong moment. So, here I go again. The auction starts in Las vegas on Thursday, 8 January at 1900 Hrs Pacific Time, therefore, 0300 Hrs UK Friday. Auction continues, on Friday, 9 January at 0900 Hrs Pacific Time, therefore, 1700 Hrs UK, Friday; similarly for Saturday.

I feel like an idiot. Thank you all for not confirming it. However, if I have this wrong yet agian, I'm just going into a hole. I am sure you can, then, figure it out yourselves.

The laugh is on me.

Time mixups are easily done.

Some years ago, I was negotiating for a bike at "Verralls" back when they were on Tooting Bec Road, and I was in Virginia, USA.

I called the store and miscalculated the time.  I got the man out of bed at 0200 London time; he was pretty nice about it.

The next week I did it AGAIN, and got him out of bed at 0400.  He was a little less nice about it that time.

So whatever else you might be doing, at least you're not getting me out of bed!
