Hi everyone
« on: 16.01. 2014 07:57 »
Hi everybody, I'm a new member from Australia and glad to be a part of your group, I'm 75. The 56 - 57 A7SS model is my absolute favourite, I bought one new in 1957, and yes the 56 & 57 are fitted with the Ariel hubs, and they were very efficient. To my limited knowledge most  of the swing arms are interchangeable, including the A50, the A65 is 2" longer, the later ones having conventional bearings instead of the silentbloc bushes, these appear to be interchangeable, at least I hope so as I intend to fit these to a 57 frame. I believe the later A7 & A10 full width Cast Iron hubs are the same hubs as the early A50 & A65. Roy Bacon's " BSA Twin Restoration" shows " most '' of the changes from year to year. Cheers DDN.

G'day DDN,  *welcome*
Doh, sorry for the shuffle.
Yes I luv the 56-57 model, not just because I have one. I made bronze bushes for mine.
So is that the one you bought new?
Cheers

Gooday everyone. Yes, if it has the full width alloy hubs I would think so, I've often read that the bike and motor is an offshoot of the A7's that cleaned up the field at the 1954 Daytona 200, from 8 entries they finished 1-2-4-5-8-16, & 3rd was a BSA gold star single, the bike that came 2nd was the only one with a swingarm rear suspension.
