mainshaft adaptor

I am using a plunger box on an own engine (very slowly at present!) and intend using a 4 spring clutch.
Now, it is suggested those wishing to use such a clutch should replace their plunger mainshaft with a later swingarm type. But just try getting one! Looks like I shall have to make my own plunger / Triumph adaptor - which I would prefer to avoid as internal splines can be difficult to keep concentric. Any ideas?

Would it be possible to weld up the spline and grind the taper?

musky don't get me started on grinding, i got let down by the so called experts at 4  different factory's before and after i thought me and MWAS would sort my taper out. even MWAS got really fed up after all the preparation he had done for the pencil air grinder .i think these factory's just set up for repetitive jobs week in week out with no one offs allowed unless you are prepared to pay 3 to 4 times the price of the unit. there is a lot more involved than just weld it up and grind it back , it is very easy saying it but doing it creates more problems than looking after me on a bad trip *countdown*. pre heating , distortion ,  heat treatment ,  diamond cutters for the correct stone , profile . wear of stone re hardening  etc etc , i say forget that and sacrifice a meal for two in a pub and buy the shafts with gears from evil bay.  no disrespect to RD he is more than capable , but i know this would be so difficult and more hassle than 60 squid! i rest my case . ps oil tank in the berglar build today , things are moving ----- mighty slowly ---- like me *beer*

I know what your saying and yes if it were me I'd get that cluster.
I put RD in the same category as Mr Millyard, a brilliant engineer and feel confident he could do it.

So far as I recall the Norton clutch fits straight on to the plunger shaft, so would be no ned for an adaptor.

Thanks for the replies chaps. Missed one on ebay a while back (offer too low) and seen none since except $$$$$$
More thought required. PS - not in Millyard's category, he's well above my grade.

 Remove all thoughts of finding one. Then they turn up. Once it was timing covers, A7 barrels, oil pumps. Cupboard bare. Now all these are coming out of the woodwork....except when you really need one. So forget it for now, and sure enough your luck will change.

Hi Muskie and All,
Any pre Commando clutch will fit the splined shaft,
At some stage they reversed the position of the plate tangs  so it's better to find a complete unit
