Washers for the monobloc
« on: 02.09. 2013 13:32 »
Just thought I would pass on a tip for sealing washers for the monobloc or others. The bottom jet holder nut(the main and needle jet) was leaking like a good un and I needed the bike for Monday. Had no fibre washers bugger. Went to Halfrauds(correct spelling  *smile* ) nothing doing unless I wanted to purchase a whole fibre washer box set(£8),no I just want one!. Also they are all metric so it would be compromise-sp? that in most cases would still leak. I had a brilliant idea-hooray me-went over to B&Q they would have tap/plumbing washers in fibre. No there was better than that they have leather washers in imperial, pack of eight assorted sizes (4 of which fit really well) for £1.89. This morning no leak actually the best it sealed for many a year. *smile*

wouldn't the jet block move up, over time if the leather washer was too soft, and change the needle jet setting too leaner, just by needle position ?

I don't think Amal were that accurate that this would make to much difference  ;). Its running fine the pilot running is a little crap but the air screw thread is stripped. The screw is held in with plumbers tape. Its a spare carb as the correct one has clearence past the slide enough to drive a team of horses past, must get that resleeved-one day *smile*

The air screw hole could be Helicoiled.

This is the spare carb which is actually 1/16 too small. I would be better having the correct 1 inch resleeved if I can stop my wife/children spending all my cash *smile*
