I am trying to decide if My "Star Twin" originally had a manual magneto fitted & drip trays behind the carbs ?
I suspect the drip trays may have been "after market" , as I have seen pictures with these in place .

Any help would be greatly appreciated ?

Seasons Greetings ,
Steve ..
I own a 1955/56 B.S.A Swinging Arm "Golden Flash" , had it since 1976 .

Gday steve,
Don't know about the manual advance, but as for the drip tray it doesn't matter if they were after market or not.
You do not want fuel leaking onto something that has lots of high voltage sparks and is mounted directly beneath the family jewels and a tub of petrol.
Do your girlfriends a favor and put one on anyhow.
cheers

Hi Steve,

1950 Star Twin has an auto advance, when the short stroke Star Twin came out they had the manual advance. When I built my 1950 Star Twin I put a manual advance one instead of the auto type as this is what I prefer.

Cheers
Andy

Wonder why you assume they were

Triumph twin rider I knew burnt his bike out the very same way circa 1962
All the best - Bill
1961 Flash - stock, reliable, steady, fantastic for shopping
1959 Rocket Gold Flash - blinged and tarted up  would have seizure if taken to  Tesco

Sunbeams too as I found from this photo last night... The photo came from the http://www.stewartengineering.co.uk/ Gallery after someone on this forum recommended them.
