I think it's maybe not that simple Gary but I'm no expert; the various bits you can alter, needle, jet, cutaway seem to have overlapping effects, there are those here who understand them better than I.
However if it's any help I found not a lot of difference with the pancake filter on, I would start with the standard carb settings without the filter and get up to running temp on the go try closing the air slide, it should run lumpy if it does fit the filter and do the same if the air slide makes less difference raise the needle one notch if you have to lift it more be careful it,s better running rich than lean especially a rebuilt engine, that's probably where Gary goes for a bigger main and dropping the needle, do you see the logic.
