Hey pirate, SELMER Treble and Bass 50  *smile* my first amp, with it's 2 x EL34, Mullard's! Never thought I'd ever see this amp mentioned on the forum. Also had a Hofner (then got a Fender, thought it was better at attracting girls). A friend is collecting Hofner's, went 1\2 crazy and now has like 50 of them. Found a photo of 'my' Selmer on the net, those were the days...
Thanks for bringing back some long gone memories.

There's some great Selmer info (and Hofner) on this site: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/gallery/gallery3/gallery4/cat21.html

Hi there backbeat, must be a Beatles connection there somewhere.

Certainly is Pirate! Instead of playing golf in my middle age I play in an early (pre fab) Beatles cover band over here in Melbourne.  www.backbeat-theband.com.au or www.facebook.com/pages/Backbeat/495409630488224 (shameless promotion!!)

The Verithin Geoff page has everything Hofner from the verithin range.

Geoff's site is great,  think my Verithin is on there somewhere!  great guitars.

Cheers

I am a music teacher mainly guitar and bass. I play in number of bands and duos and did solo for 15 years.
I am working part time in a studio writing and recording songs at the moment for a movie. The movie should be finished after Christmas sometime.
I am also one of the main actors in this one even though I havent acted professionally before. The LA director who now lives in Australia wants amateurs for this one (cheaper) and because we are doing all the music for it he recons I am ok at acting. We did a couple of scenes and he was happy so heres hoping. Another Mel Gibson in the making.
Its going to be an Aussie comedy I will let you know when its released  to the cinemas. We are also working on songs for other movie projects for the future.
I love my BSAs so there should be some in this movie.
cheers Terry

I pulled in to the local 'gangster bar'(only 'cos the owner's dodgy ), the other week, and Tommy was playing on the screen, couldn't hear it but reminisced at seeing it about '75(?), at the picture show, towards the end Tommy(Daltrey) converts a bunch of bikers, and I saw at least one A10 a couple of times... *smile* (didn't realise or forgot Jack Nicholson was in it!)

Terry, good luck with that, I try and make a point of checking out Aussie movies, just to support the industry, I know a few people in it. I believe that the first ever motion picture was an Aussie one about Ned Kelly??

Bill, I had a look at yer Nephs' clip, pub rock I reckon, I can imagine you doing that>>> *eek* *smile*
Gav, I don't mind a bit of the old rockabilly, local annual Greazefest here is all about it.
 cheers

If you don't already play, a strat is not the ideal instrument for learning on, as it has a narrow neck. You would be better starting with a normal steel string acoustic. The wider neck makes you less likely to touch (and thus deaden the sound) of the strings either side of the one you want to hold down.

Everybody thinks they have fat fingers when they start. A wide neck seems like the answer, but I think it's not.

A well set up electric can be fretted with a lighter touch than an acoustic, which kind of makes up for closely spaced strings.

Well I found the ideal way to ship an A10 motor.... hope one day it will have a nice note too.

Maybe this was behind the A10 and audio world link eh?

That's a road case, pushed a few of them too.
Did you smuggle it in as stage props?  *smile*

Hey  Gav, I was wrong in my earlier estimate too, I think I said ~64 kg?(dunno where I got that), Well I weighed mine again the other day and complete with Maggie, Gennie and gearbox no clutch, came in at 66kg, so take off ~15,(3+3+9=15) ally head motor should be about ~50kg..?

No Worries Dutch, I had to have the best estimate a couple of weeks ago, and was not sure what was included with the motor. so i optioned up my guess to 65k plus packing, plus a 20k container so made it 85kg, and that got it here. so all is well.
