G'day christoau, welcome to the forum.
Sorry I can't help, but good luck.
Late '54 so is that '55. Model years started in August I think.
Is yours alloy or iron head?
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome Muskrat. It is an iron head, maybe l should have said swing arm not plunger in 1954.As there are plenty of the other type of tank, even in India but not my one.

Hi
I bought my tank a few months ago on ebay from tradespareauto. I emailed and he had some left, the chrome on the tank is not top class, sending a picture of my newly restored Golden Flash -54 with tank from India.

A bit off topic but I'm wondering if I have the right tank for my 56 model gf, it has no indents for badges so I assumed it needs the pressed plate badge like that pic of the indian 54 tank above. It has a single bolt mounting.

A local tank restorer has told me my tank would be too expensive to restore back to chromed standard not due to rust but due mainly to it's lead filled dents and other lesser repairs like straightening the filler cap opening so I was thinking of fitting an Indian tank myself, this is the first time I've seen one with the pressed badge.

Kiwi,
That tank was used on the Flash until 1957.

Thanks Trev, I hoped it was the original even though it is a bit bashed about. It more or less holds petrol so will go on the bike as it is until I find a chromed tank.

Hi Christau, please could let me know how you get on sourcing an indian tank? as I may order one too. I tried searching for that supplier on eBay but could not find any listings from them.

The tank I have on Bender was a freebie, banged up pretty badly, top stoved in, sides dented too. To get it properly panel beaten to chroming std was approx $500nzd, chroming again done properly around the same money. So around a grand nzd to fix up and thats excluding painting it which is still in the to do list...

If he has any left or can make requests a picture of the tank or the measure of where the holes are, I have a friend who ordered a tank and there were the holes for the badges too far forward as the plunger.
