What's my Dad on?
« on: 09.09. 2012 06:20 »
Hi to all
I am progressing well with my A7 Longstroke from 1949 and have come across some photos of Dad.
Although he is not here I am hoping someone can ID the bike and possibly any military understanding of the tank markings.
I believe to read 64 YA then either 51 or 81 or S1
Underneath the number 473
On the back of one of the original its say After 74 Bdg ... Bude 1950.
My very sincere thanks
Stephen

Looks like the pipe is coming from an OHV cylinder head and there might be a magneto drive chaincase for a magneto behind the cylinder.

So maybe a Matchless.

Yes, going by the front forks I would guess Matchless G3L.

Your dad is on a potent combination of bromide and smuggled Egyptian brandy.

That's his next prescription tied to his helmet.  He's about to zigzag crazily down to the chemist.

Yeah I would go for a Matchless G3, definatly teledraulic front forks and the tank shape is correct.
I like bike, especially my 61'SR
