Thanks RR, I totally agree, the 8 inch is a much better brake.
It's just that I had a 7 inch setup, of which I had modified the spindle, bearings and brakeplate to fit the springers I'm using.
When I came to lace it up, I found the brake drum was cracked, which didn't amuse me!
I really should have checked it beforehand, but, well..... , no buts, I should have checked it first.
As my inner Yorkshireman doesn't like to waste anything, if I can get another 7 inch hub, I can use the parts I already have.
Think I'm going to pm bonny and see how much he's wanting for his hub and brakeplate, so I can make an informed decision.
