Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone knows what the markings on a BSA Plunger gearbox inner cover. I have seen S,R,X,XX. Ihave one marked MD but I think they are PO initials. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Jeff

The factory used go / no go gauges to maintain build tolerances.
Typically you would stamp the part with the number of the last gauge that fitted.
You will see a lot of funny stampings if you look closely at your bike.
