Gear box bolts

Gentlemen... On a plunger A10, do the rear mounting bolts on the g/box thread into a blind hole or are they able to drain the box of oil if absent?

They are blind but they must be there. If you have stripped threads unfortunately it has to come apart and be fixed.

Mine had bad threads and needed a quick fix at the time, re-threaded to the nearest oversize I could find (which was 10mm), not exactly sticking to original and am no fan of mixing thread standards, but result was 100% excellent and lasting.

Don't forget that these bolts are wired through, as well. I had the same problem, tapped the blind holes the next (metric - oh! the shame!) size up and drilled using the smallest bit through the heads to wire them so they don't undo with the vibration. Due to their location, you run the risk of loosing them and not knowing for a long time. They've held up for almost 5000 miles now.
