Does anyone know what date BSA took over production of the RGS from Eddie Dow?

Not sure if this helps, launched first week February 1962 to spring 1963 2,200 manufactured.
Engine No:DA10R - 5958 last engine DA10R-10388
Frame No: GA10 - 101  last frame GA10 - 1914

1962 April List Price including tax £309 13s 6p

1965 April my first weeks wage £2 17s 6p they were a lot of money then.

           Those frame numbers quoted don't add up to 2200 bikes.

I was thinking that when I typed it in, so its worst then we thought, there is another 386 more RGS rep out there. I would still like one.

When I  lived in Tamworth Staffs the guy next door worked in the competition shop (they all say that) until I watch a BSA DVD with him working on Jeff Smith Gold Star Scrambler, as I understand it from him that the engines from 5985 onwards on the production line went to Super Rocket or RGS as required, its a pity my Super Rocket is 50 numbers out.

That would have been Fred Barlow who was also a great source of information on Norton Commandos. Sadly he dies a few years ago of liver cancer.

I popped into his shop once and Jeff Smith was visiting from Canada (I think) and we had a cup of tea together.

Great bloke and sadly missed.

Hi Everyone

While we are disscussing RGS  at my local branch of Notts Norton Owners Concours night in July a RGS took the Best Overall Prize.

Its 1963, one the last few complete rebuild by Roger Sharman purchased early this year I under stand it was £17,000 and it was stunning.

Its Chris Walker BSB fame and Norton Sales Manager who I think still has a BSA Cyclone Clubman, presenting the award.
