Look what dropped out of my tank, it seems when my brother had the tank re-sprayed 2 years ago, the paint shop lined the tank. 2 questions spring to mind, what the h*ll do I use to get the rest of it out, and how will I know when I have. I dont want to subject the carb or engine to any more of this.

My recommendation is to recoat the inside of the tank with a product that will encapsulate any tiny remaining bits left over after your best efforts to remove them. One common recommendation for cleanout before coating is to throw in a handfull of wall-board (drywall) screws with a pint of laquer thinner and shake them around vigorously.  Here is a link to the Caswell product I used and still have no reason to be sorry after 5 years. http://www.caswellplating.com/aids/epoxygas.htm

While, Caswell says it resists "many harsh...fuels," I would recommend contacting them in case you are concerned about ethanol, which, apparently dissolves some other coatings.

Put a hand full of bolts in with couple of pints of white spirit and shake it all about. Remove and rinse out thoroughly.

Hi All,
Caswells sell a remover that breaks down the old coating, it works well, be very careful of your paintwork
The lining can also be removed using "Nitromors! paint stripper
I have used the caswells lining stuff in a couple of tanks
All is well (so far!!)
You need to do the lining in a warm place with all the parts warm as well, this makes the "gloop" run around much easier
I like the caswells product as it can be made runny with some heat and it sets slowly giving you time to make sure the tank is coated all over

Hi there I have just done my A10 and A65 petrol tanks which had been sealed with non Ethanol proof sealers I used a product from Tank Care Products based in the UK They supply you wth a complete kit for removing old sealer and replacing with new Ethanol proof sealer. You have to follow the instructions  and from start to finish will take just over a week but it is worth it removed all the old sealant and you get another chemical to combat rust then another to remove any moisture before applying the new sealant it pays to do it with the tank warm as it makes the sealant flow much better also keep tank warm with a hairdryer while revolving the tank to evenly spread the sealant after which you have to leave it to cure for 6 days before filling with petrol.

I recommend NOT lining it with anything if it doesn't leak.
