Never could work out why our gearboxes don't have syncromesh, but change (realitvely) smoothly compared to cars of the same vintage.

Mostly because the gearbox is turning much more slowly than in a car due to the primary drive reduction. So the difference in speeds between gears is reduced.

Interesting how a topic regarding a video has branched off into the workings of gearboxes. You learn something new every day!


Of course you could also try one handed whilst riding!! - did you have the lasso in the other hand?
