Wont tick over on side stand

Not really as problem more a curiosity.

If I pull up somewhere and put the bike on the side stand it dies rather quickly.  On the centre stand it ticks over reasonably well (the carb is probably a little worn).

Any thoughts?

Is it the standard Monobloc?

If so, I would say the float level is set to low.

Hi zitman,
This is a clever design feature of the BSA A7/10 range

Having the engine cut out prevents engine oil building up in the crankcase
as the oil pickup in the sump will be no longer be the lowest point 

It also prevents the gear oil working its way along the mainshaft sleeve gear bushes and leaking onto the ground

Its a 376 with the float bowl on the left as you sit on the bike.

Sounds like monoblockitis, runs too rich when it's on the stand.

I had this issue on my B40.  I checked float level and that was spot on.  Adjusting the idle mixture a tad rich seemed to cure it but your results may vary.  If the bowl is on the left, it tends to lean out the carb because the float level actually goes down.

Have you got an original side stand on or one of the shorty aftermarket ones
that let the bike lean over further ????????
