Another Clutch Question

Just fitted a Brand New SRM complete clutch. The bike started on the kick start but after I added the correct amount of oil I have slight slip on the kick start. I don't want to keep taking the cover off, so my question is, how many turns do I take up the springs to get this right. Thank you.

I fitted an SRM clutch in the spring, exactly as per the instructions, including the oil, not ATF.

It dragged for about 10 miles, then settled, and is light, no drag no slip.

I would ride it a few miles to let it all bed in and if you still have a problem contact SRM to discuss.

Hi Julian. I can't start it now because of the slipping, don't want to wind the screws in too much ? Those gaskets are not cheap LOL. Thanks.

Should not need to screw them in very far, mine is very light, 2 fingers to operate.

Have you got enough clearance on the pushrod?

There is another thread on SRM Clutches which shows a picture of the springs according to SRM. Will have another go in the morning, push rod has about 3 mm slack, thanks.

Hi All,
With the SRM clutch you need to check for pushrod  free play at the clutch end
If set up incorrectly the "pusher" can butt up against the end of the mainshaft, resulting in clutch slip

Took cover plate off and checked the parts. I applied a slight amount of grease on springs and top hat bearing. Re-assembled as per enclosed instructions. They suggest adjusting allen key bolt till it bites then slacken off one full turn. I could only slacken off 7/8's of a turn so the push rod is very slightly too long. Hopefully after 10 miles as suggested it will bed in and give me a bit more slack. The clutch is working fine and doing what it said on the box. Ride out tomorrow
