new member in scotland
« on: 11.05. 2011 20:29 »
another newbie up in Scotland , also with crankshaft problems.Had my 55 A7ss out for its first run of the year two weeks ago and managed to run the big end. a real shame as its never had the bottom end apart in years, 47K miles and was still on standard journals .
Ive stripped it and sent the crank to SEP in kegworth, as ive used them in the past for crank rebuilds on dare i say it Tr...phs!
Used this bike last year for the manx rally and have booked again for august. so the clock is ticking.

time enough for a sludge trap to fill if the bike was used regular, you don't say what the mileage is.

Here's hoping you get it back and running in time

bike had done 47000 on the standard crank, had replacement shells some years ago , but no regrind. When i pulled one of the sludge traps i was surprised that it wasnt blocked and in fact was more part filled with the alloy coloured oil that had been circulating whilst the l/h shell and journal destroyed themselves. The timing side bush has also worn  so at a guess im thinking thats the cause , lost oil pressure and then an oil starved big end. he ho. all makes for work in the shed.
