New recruit

Hi folks, just joined your forum.
So, I suppose I should introduce myself a bit.
Been riding/repairing/building bikes for 30 odd years, Japanese, European and latterly American.
Only had one Brit previous to this one, a very, very slow C15 that I owned briefly in my youth.
I've recently aquired an early A7 project/basket case/money pit type thing.
I didn't really set out to find that particular model, I was looking for a hardtail, sorry rigid (must use correct terminology) frame for a bobber project.
I came across one at a reasonable price, so I bought it, along with forks, wheel, and various tinware, and it turned out to be an A7.
That was last Friday, and since then I have managed to also unearth a suitable engine (in boxes), on this very forum.
I'm going to need lots of parts and advice, so prepare yourselves for a veritable cornucopia of stupid questions!

Hi jack. Who didn,t own a C15 in their youth? Have fun with your project thats the main thing and you will always get answers from the guys on this forum

Hi Jack, make it a long term project and you will find the parts eventually. I love these early longstroke A7s and I ride a 1947 A7 on a daily basis. The members on this site will give plenty of help and advise so ask as many questions as you like. Ask away even if it seems silly as it may be an importart thing to know.
Please dont chop the frame they are getting very hard to find these days. If you were in Australia I could help you with alot of the parts but shipping cost are very expensive.

In reply to terryk, the frame had already been much modified before it came to me, having had just about every bracket apart from the engine mountings chopped off! So, all I'll be doing is adding brackets where needed.
Am I right in thinking that a YA7 prefix is 1948?
Also could one of you chaps direct me to a proper workshop manual (i.e. not haynes) and a parts book for this bike please?

Yes YA7 is 1948. You can buy reproduced manuals, parts list and service sheets on ebay. The ones from New Zealand are very good. Shame about the frame.
