New member intro

Hello all.

I'm new to the forum.  Inherited a 58 Super Rocket from my dad who passed away last summer.  Just now getting started in assessing what kind of project I'll be taking on.  Bike has been sitting for at least two decades but looks complete and original except for a missing tailight lens and broken speedo glass.

Looks like the sources for parts for my unit singles and twins will be good for the A10 but I'm having some difficulty in locating a factory parts list and workshop manual.  All I've found is a Haynes manual so far.  Are these any good?

G'dat Squariel, welcome to the forum.
                                                   Great to see you restoring dad's old bike. If that is all that's missing it shouldn't be a big jog. Can you remember why it was parked 20 years ago?
 A friend down here bought one of those NEW and is still riding it.

As I recall the SR was running when it was parked.  My dad had too many other projects and the bikes ended up being pushed into the corners of the barn.  I was busy with my own collection of early '70s (non-BSA) race bikes at the time.  Since then I've sold almost all of my collection.  Now I have another.

The SR turns over and has good compression.  Cosmetics are rough though.  It's my first pre-unit project though so I'm sure I'll run into some surprises.  I have a couple of relatively easy projects underway (Royal Star and Thunderbolt), a couple of "challenging" projects started (Square 4 and Sunbeam), and I'm hoping the SR will be somewhere in between both in time and $.

Hello im also new to the site and here are a few pics of my 1953 A10 plunger
just got delivery of it today . I think it looks  ok so far  a few things I dont like such as the repro headlamp with repro switch and ammeter.
Can i ask the experts on the site to take a look at my pictures and tell me if there is anything that is not correct on the bike for a 1953 model .
I dont know wether the speedo is correct but i think it needs restoring . is it cheaper to get it restored or buy another?

Hi Goldstar. I think the cylinder head is wrong it should be the earlier rounded type. The speedo definitely restore as the only new ones are made in India. Some of the guys have a go at restoring them and there is lots of info on the net. I use these people http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/ but they are not cheap.  All the best.
