Rear guard A10 Plunger
« on: 05.04. 2011 08:26 »
Hi All

I've been looking purchasing a reproduction rear guard for my a10 plunger, as the original is in very poor condition. I have emailed this company, "HONOROAK"  (hi yes i have one  sorry price has gone up now £90 post will be £16  to the UK if you wish to pay via paypal please add 4% if not by cheque £106 to the UK  doug for honoroak), this seems reasonable.
The problem with mine is the rear section has rust holes, crash damage and hinge problems, unless someone has a rear section in good condition, or can reccomend a better (cheaper) alternative.
The second question would be how close in looks are these guard to the original ??

There is a mudguard blade (rear section) on Ebay at the moment. The listing number is 250798932343.

There's a guy called Mr Lovett, 49 Feckenham Road, Headley Cross Redditch B97 5AS tel ???? 543796 who was recommended to me by a friend who had him make one for a pre-war Ariel he was restoring. He was very pleased. I have just received a 2 piece one from him for a rigid M20, 1939, and it's not bad. Bare steel, a few little things a perfectionist might spend a bit of time on (the crease where there's a flat section on the front left where the chain runs by, for example), but a good ridge where there should be, nicely done edges, a good fit where the two bits come together (not a hinge in this case) - and 75 quid excl post. This one wasn't for me, but I'd have been happy with it if it had been. Might be worth a phone call if a genuine bit doesn't come up Pato?

Burton Bike bits also have them and supposed to be very good too... I opted to repair mine though as it was just a case of repairing the hinge which looks to have been cut apart to allow removal and replacement of the rear section, probably due to excessive corrosion.
