G'day Pato,
I think you will find the drive side shaft will be too long to fit under the primary cover. I think it's longer to accommodate the alternator. Cheers

wow, went for only 113 quid! Not much dosh for a nice reground large journal crank.

Is there anything to be said against maching the alternator pin off and cutting a new thread for the cush nut on???
Shouldn't be too difficult with a lathe of appropriate size.

Hi MG and All
I was surprised that it only made 113
It is a rare piece of kit, at one time I had notions of building an alternator engine, and was looking for such a crank
I gave up as I could not find one *sad2*
The parts book lists a different driveside crankcase as well as different primaries
I think the splined section is not as long as on a cush drive crank???

I'm rebuilding an alternator B33 engine at the moment, it has a few different bits which are proving hard to find *ex*
(engine sprocket!!!) for one

I think the cheaper prices reflect how poor everyone (read ME) is after Christmas ? I just picked up a Crank case with cam for 80 Quid (I reciently paid 60 for a cam) 330518642020, and a Craven rack for 41 quid 180613833965. Got my eye on a few more bit prior to leaving UK.  *smile*
I just had to book the whole container to transport and the goodies home to Australia.  *eek*

Ok, but could still be usable with a Triumph cush drive clutch.

Have you tried AMC twin sprockets on your B33 crank? They have used fixed sprockets and cush drive clutches for later models, the splines on the crank look pretty similar to the A10 version and the splined sprockets are readily available. I can send you a dimensioned drawing of the drive side splines on an AMC twin crank if you got an A10 crank kicking 'round to compare?

Hi MG,
Hmmmmm???? that sounds interesting Yes please,
I will have the B33 crank back soon (I hope?)
Its having an oversize crankpin made and fitted to repair the damage that occured when the crankpin broke
Triumph sprockets are also a possibility??
The alternator  equipped bikes use a cush type clutch!

Is it possible fit an A65 crank in an A10 to fit an alternator?

Hi, Markus
Many thanks for the brilliant drawing *smile* *smile*
It will give me some checking to do when the crank arrives back

Tom,
I honestly dont know?? But hasnt the A65 a shorter stroke?
I have heard of fitting A10 and Norton cranks into A65's  when going for larger capacities??

Yeah, I've heard of fitting a10 cranks to a65s, thats why I wondered. Didn't think about Commando cranks.
I'm happy with what I've got mind you.
Cheers,
Iain

no problem John, you're welcome.

Report back once you've checked your crank (just being curious)  *smile*
