Hi All,

Does anybody know where to find these parts?

42-3160         Kickstart quadrant & spindle
67-3376         Kickstart ratchet pinion

I've found the pinion on ebay but the manufacturer doesn't do the quadrant.
(I'm afraid I'll not be able to fit it if I can't buy the complete set)

They are for the A10 1951 I just introduced in the forum
http://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php/topic,3558.0.html

.. in an attempt to smooth the kickstart ..

Many thanks
Andre

Try J B Restorations in the UK on

I had a pinion off him, you will need to make sure quadrant and pinion match. If you read the previous posts on here on the subject you know all about them.

Muskrat I just removed my post as I read Andre's other post and he's in Brazil, so probably he's better getting it from a trader who will know best way to post it.
Also it's started snowing again so might be a while before I contact civilisation once more (hopefully not)

I purchased a pinion from a trader in uk. I kicked the bike over once or twice and the pinion disintegrated. Obviously the quality of the material was very poor. I spoke to Supreme Motorcycles ( again in uk) last week and they tel me there is only one Company that makes them, and they are having problems with them, and there is no stock at the moment. I would suggest that you take care were you obtain one from.

Many thanks so far guys!

Will try all suggestions.

bsa-bill: dad's there .. I'm living in London.  (Otherwise I'm sure it wouldn't be finished yet ...)

goldy: thanks for the hint.   I've tried DragonFly (where I bought most of the parts from) with the same feedback. Looks like the quadrant/spindle is the tricky one and I'm just buying if I can find a matching pair (as pointed by Stu)

Still have some time to look for before my holidays next year :)

Andre - just to be sure are we talking about the quadrant with square cut teeth?
If so I will post a photo of it sometime over the next few days so you can see if it's right (it's in the bottom shed so I need to hunt it out)

Recalling my own recent experience, squarecut quadrant and pointy ratchet=clonky kickstarter with skipping teeth and pedal sticking. I think this was confirmed by others when I was struggling through it. Can't search to verify while thumb typing.

Bsa-Bill,

I'm not sure but I could find a picture of it before the recovery ...
The only thing I have from the guy who takes care of it is the part number = 42-3160

I've found this website with a picture for that part number, despite the year doesn't match (1954-1963)

Cheers,

Just had a look at Draganfly web site
Your bike is a plunger so they list the following but don't necessarily have them in stock

Plunger Quadrant 1948 to 51      67-3165 (not available)
                        1950 to 53      67-3178 priced at 62.55

Plunger and SW/Arm
Quadrant            1954 to 62      67-3375 priced at 20.73 ( I bought one of these)
Quadrant + Shaft 1954 to 62      42-3160 Priced at 62.55

So from this I surmise (Perhaps wrongly) that the first two are square toothed and the last two are tapered toothed

The one I have is Squared toothed like the one in your picture in the gearbox, the other picture is of the later type.

Both parts you list as what you want    67-3376 ( 20.46) and  42-3160 (62.55) are available from Draganfly and possible others
