Long Stroke motor $ ?
« on: 28.09. 2010 13:54 »
G'day all,
spied a LS motor with carb & mag (no gen or pipes) in a local shed. Looks un-molested and turns over. What would be a fair amount to offer ?
He was going to put it in a vintage race car !!! I don't really need it but thought it needs rescuing.
Cheers

Well if that's what he was going to do with it as little as possible!
How much do you want it?
Here in UK ( but you're in a much better place because you have Cooper's sparkling!) £150-200  which is what, about AUD$250-350, depending on condition.
Some would pay more!

Hard one Muskrat, the usual stuff applies in that you dont know the internal condition etc etc. The fact it has a carby and maggy on it adds to the potential value.

You would have to sound him out a bit and see if you can get some idea of what he thinks its worth, maybe start at somewhere around the $200 and see how he reacts. If it was put on evil bay it would probably go for many times that amount.

Good luck, just hope it not one of those "nah mate, I'm going to do it up oneday". That really pisses me off, I know of quite a few good bikes that are going to be done up oneday and never will.

I have a good home for that longstroke motor Im becoming a bit of a longstroke addict.
Thanks Brian you are a bad influence on my addiction and keepin me broke good on ya mate. My Mrs is gunnin for ya. Nah she just sees more stuff in the shed I got her fooled. She thinks the BSA I just bought which is a twin is the same one I had on the road before which was a single. She thinks it just has a different tank on it. I didnt lie I just said I got my bike goin again. Ah things we do. If I dont spend the money on BSA stuff she will want a new car or holiday or something.

When my better half sees me with a different bike and says, "when did you buy that" I say, oh no dear, I've had that one for years, its just been sitting in the shed covered up and I havent ridden it for ages. Its worked for about the last six bikes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

G'day all,
called in to see if I could get some pics. Stuff packed away and can't get to it till next swap meet in a few weeks. Will try again then. He doesn't seem too worried about a sale, one of those chaps who waits for the market to reach his prices.
Cheers
