G-day everyone.
 I have just joined your forum, in the hope I may gain some of the knoledge kept here and get my bike up and running, as well as making new friends along the way.
We, being myself my wife and almost 3year old daughter live in South East, Queensland Australia.
 I am the owner of a 1951 a7 engine in a (ba7s) plunger frame, 1953 I believe.
The bike was purchased many years ago and was rideable although very tired and as it turned out fixed up just enough  to make the sale.
 Due to injury the beeza was put in moth balls until its recent dusting off.
It has however turned out that the bike has many more problems than were found before its packing away, so I find myself in need of guidance and have many questions to be asked.

Hi Rusted... Good of you to join us. Your A7 will be a nice bike when put together and running. There seems to be a lot of mentioning of 1953 models here on the forum at the moment. Hope you soon open up and get rust free!

G'day Rusted, welcome to the forum. There's a few of us up there in your neck of the woods.
 I also have a '51 A7 in a '53 frame. Changed the frame a few years back as original was bent. Will get around to fixing it one day.
They are a sweet little bike and handle quite well. Mine has been on the road since '84 when I rescued it from a chook shed.
All the help you need is only a post away.

Welcome Rusted from another Aussie, but being from Adelaide only marginally closer than the UK! I am also very new and very much have my BSA learner plates on. Don't know how much I will be able to help, but for example if you came across bits in Adelaide, always happy to check out anything this end for you.

Hi everybody thanks for the welcomes and offers of assistance, much appreciated.
With my questions do I keep replying here or do I start a new post as I did with "Damaged engine cases" in the tech part. Also is that the place to ask general questions about the bike or do I use   this section here.
Here's a quick question on the bike, I have the  1951 aa7  semi unit plunger engine with damage to cases and want to acquire new ones,looked on wanted and for sale here, and there are a7 long stroke cases for sale. I did not know there was two types of cases, (long & short).
 could you please tell me if I have long or short.
Numbers on the cases are 67-292 & 67-294 .

Hello, & welcome. For specific tech questions, just start as many new topics as needed in the tech boards.
I'd guess some general questions like 'how many years was my model in production' could be posted in Bikes, Pictures & m.

Btw, maybe it's time for a few new boards, any suggestions welcome (post in Forum Info & Help).

G'day Rusted,
                  yours is a short stroke. They started in '51. Most of the engine parts are the same as the later swing arm. The gear box and primary are a little different. You can mix'n'match a bit, I have a '57 A7SS top end on my AA7 and converted the '57 A7SS to an A10.
Over the years I have only seen 2 sets of AA7 cases for sale on ebay.
