Wanted A10 engine pre unit

Looking for Alloyhead engine for an A10 project, if anyone has one going for sale.

There was a bloke selling an alloy head at Banbury just gone... I asked him if it was an A10 or A7... six fifty he said! Oh I says... and how much is it? 'six fifty' he says. Yes! Six Hundred and fifty Quid he was asking! I nearly told him a nasty word.

Likewise, welcome. Do you already have a bunch of other parts, or a rolling chassis to wrap around this engine you seek? Just curious, as we are always interested in pictures of projects in all stages.  

LJ, I think Ed was asking about a whole engine, but the alloy head you found at fixer-upper engine price is eye-opening and, maybe, crazy, at least.

Thats crazy!
£650 for an alloy head, if you consider what a complete running bike with an alloy head is worth.

Yep... crazy it is Iain... But I do think that day will come when we see more of these crazy prices, judging by the way sales are going on ebay. I must admit that I also have been on the gravy train in selling things at high prices, for instance I've sold two inner timing covers with the rev counter hole, both for around £280 - £300 quid. Psssst got one left if your interested!

looking at the prices I realised that if my head ruled my heart my bikes worth more in bits than it is complete

I could break it and buy one with all the work done

I saw that head at Banbury, the chap said its only a £ a CC. I said you gotta be F"£$%^& joking mate. I saw a dozen men ask the price and walk away laughing.

Phew thanks for backing me up on that Andy... I was worried about giving the story of the year! But... you have to hand it to the guy as someone somewhere will cough up especially with those nice looking 'Golden' inserts it had.

Guys, Thanks for all your info, looked at that RGS basket case £8k, just come round after fainting!!!

Richard L, to answer your question about my project, no don't have much,frame,tank, gearbox etc, its just an idea at the moment, but I'm beginning to think it may work out very costly. But if the parts do come together I will post pics of the rebuild. On that note have tried to upload a pic of my rocket but for some reason nothing happens? Prob me?

I was watching a dozen or so items from the chap breaking the SR on Ebay
Strange and stranger still
rear mudguard £42 front £185
toolbox £185  ???? ???? ????
oiltank £102
revcounter £275
speedo £180
BUT the much sought after 1549 cylinder head complete with valves only made £186.02

I cant believe how much the toolbox went for
and I think the rear mudguard and cylinder head were bargains?
