Any UK members registered for the Help the Heroes bike event for this Sunday?

The official registration was for 2000 bikes but due to demand its been capped at 10,000. According to the number of non registered riders there may be a further 10,000 turn up. The muster point is Hullavington airfield with an organised ride through Gloucestershire returning back into Wiltshire with a ride through Wooton Bassett . Those in the UK will know that Wootton Bassett is a small town close to Lynham where British service men and women who have been killed in Afganistan are repatriated into the UK.

Seems like an excellent event, for a very good cause. Wish I could attend.

I wont be doing the Wooton Basset ride as I'll be on the London Epsom to Brighton Vintage bikes Pioneer run... Sun is shining out there and looks to be a glorious weekend. Safe riding everyone and have a good weekend.

Just returned from the Afgan Heroes bike ride....absolutly brilliant. I live quite close to Hullavington (muster point) and had a 9-10 am arrival time. Picked up a convoy of bikes heading up the A350 and rode to Junction 17 on the M4. The tailback of bikes was about a mile but it all moved smoothly. The organisation to get everyone in worked well including a police officer asking to see my tax disc as my bike had trigggered their ANPR. No problem though as I had only taxed it last Friday so there must be a lag in thir computerised records. Never ever seen so many bikes. Parked up in rows awaiting the call to form up. Many people wandering around looking for their bikes. Warm sunny day, then it was our turn to ride out in a group of around 2000. The route was lined with well wishers and families waving flags and applauding. Loads of people waving and cheering even. The people of Wootton Bassett had turned out to greet the bikes with more flags and banners which is a welcome change to the sombre tone which they have become accustomed to. I am sure those who went will never forget, and can say, I was there!
I didn't get confirmation that my registration for the ride had been accepted until last Thursday and once colleages at work knew I was on the ride they threw in £120 of donations without being asked so well done to them.

Des I took my elderly step father in the car to watch, I parked up at the roundabout at Malmesbury with my cam corder and camera, however I missed the early bikes including your lot, I did however return home later and tagged on at Malmesbury with a much later group and rode home through Bassett.

Richard, You may have caught me if you were filming at Malmsbury island, I believe I passed there around 1300 hrs.
