G'day chooch, welcome to the forum.
Back in '91 I bought a '57 A7SS in a little poorer condition for $2000AU, today it would probably fetch $4000AU. So I guess around the 2000 quid mark would be good for you and fair for him.
Mine is now the A10 cafe in my avatar.
Cheers.

Welcome,
A few pictures may help in evaluating the (outside) condition and original parts etc. As for the engine & internals, quite impossible to say, does it start ? Any engine noises etc.

btw, where are your situated? (please read the registration agreement). Thanks.

sorry yes should have said i am in lancashire england, outside condition is fairly rough but after a few hours work could probably be described as oily rag !,havnt tried to start it but it turns over ok ,bike was last used on a trip to africa and has been laid up since 1980 vendor says it wasnt for any particular reason , and i have no reason to doubt him ( he has a 2002 r1150rt with 5000 miles on clock used for a trip to corfu and parked up since !)

A bike with some impressive history... makes it interesting ! Does the owner have any photos from the trip?

(btw, I'll add your location info to your profile).

Hi Tony,
Is the reg registered with the dvla. If its not been taxed for 30 years you may have to have an age related plate.
AN A7SS seems to be a desirable bike to have and a good one fetches good money You could do with looking at some mags to get an idea on prices or ebay.Brit bikes have gone up in the last 12 months

There have been a couple of A7's at Newark Autojumble recently, both complete and running with docs (one was on the road i think) and in solid oily rag condition. They were priced at £2000 and £2200.

hi Chooch,
Welcome to the Forum!
This bike sounds good to me,  A7SS's don't come up that often.. They're not much behind an A10 in performance terms and there are those that reckon the 500cc motor is sweeter..
Good opportunity if you ask me, I'd buy it no problem so I'd make a decision soon in case someone else locally gets to hear of it...

Cheers,
Adrian

I have to confirm what Adrian said, the A7SS is a great bike. It is much smoother than the 650cc engine, much revvier with less vibration. I'm running mine with 9:1 CR, a 356 cam and 28mm carb (head ported to match). With this setup it leaves a std Golden Flash way behind.
