So for some years, my A10 Golden Flash has not had an air cleaner, just a velocity stack with a bumblebee screen on it.

But the more I look at the clouds of limestone dust that come from my driveway ... well, I bought an air cleaner and installed it.

As a first cut, I didn't change the jetting at all.   It's a stock round paper BSA filter - the bike still starts first kick, idles perfect, and seems to run very well, although I know that bikes will do all that when they are in fact running rich.

Anybody have any experience with this change?  I was thinking about dropping the needle one slot leaner.   I almost never run it on the main jet (wide open).   Is there a specification of any kind - I don't know whether the stock jetting in the manual is for an open carb or one with an air cleaner ....

Theoretically a bike will run richer with a air cleaner due to the restriction but in reality those round paper filters offer very little restriction so I would leave it alone. "If it aint broke dont fix it"

Its better to be slightly rich than slightly weak, at least rich isnt going to pink, overheat, burn valves, hole pistons etc.

If it feels right then it probably is right, you could always take a look at the colour of the sparking plugs or even a do a colourtune just to be sure.

Decent paper filters (unless they're really tiny) hardly ever make a difference at anything but large throttle openings.  Leave it alone and do a plug chop at 1/2 and full throttle to give you an indication of mixture on the needle and the main.
