just a quick question, do the winged fuel caps have a rubber or cork seal. i have an indian tank and cap, but can't see how it would seal without one.
cheers
Richard.

G'day frogy.
I can't imagine it would work (seal) without one. Over the years I've made my own out of 1/16" rubber or cork. The cork worked best but only lasted a few years before a new one was needed.
Is your cap hinged?

Cork. Don't try making a rubber one, I did and it swole up and jammed the cap solid.
Cork seals for std caps are cheap and may fit, If not I think the OD is OK but the ID may need trimming.

Funnily enough I made a cork one for my pre-war Red Hunter and the cork crinkled up in a week. Someone recommended some sort of synthetic rubber sheet off Ebay and it's still going strong.
Modern juice seems to attack some stuff and not others.

Makes sense, i think I used the rubber that was not ethanol proof. So only get the new stuff.

thanks for replies. i have some sheet cork, and neoprene. i'll have a go at making one. Seems most of the ones on ebay appear not to have a seal in them.
