Bergs, I liked your failure report because there was no other option but if could, I would have responded with a sad face!
Nobody likes a failure and now you've witnessed what a pain these one off "small" jobs can be in terms of set up etc. it is small wonder is it that professional engineering shops are generally not interested in getting involved, it really isn't worth it and always takes twice as long as you'd think. Hours of mucking around then the actual grinding takes about 2 minutes or fails completely... They can't quote or charge you the full cost because you'd think they were taking the pee but in fact they still mostly lose money on them.
Anyhoo onwards and upwards Bergerman, what an angel your old buddy at the pub must be? Either that or he'd already been on the B&T's before you arrived
but hopefully he can get this sorted for you and it'll all end happily. Hats off to MWAS for giving it a go, too bad it didn't work out for you guys.
